Exploring Belief, Expectation and Behaviour in Learning A Foreign Language

There are many reasons that motivates people to learn a new language. Some language for practical reasons. just love the and its people. Motivation is pushing factor learners succeed. This motivation sometime becomes drive participate in learning process. then reduces their fear of study therefore done investigate influence on if foreign used classic theory self-fulling prophecy by Merton (1948) as base. The three factors self-fulfilling prophecies ( beliefs, expectations behaviour) scaffolded onto constructs form main variables study. 100 participants were purposely chosen. survey adapted from Horwitz, Horwitz Cope (1986). Apart demographic profile Section A., there 3 other sections. B has 11 items section 7 10 expectation D 15 behaviour. Findings showed behaviour Learners beliefs such being frightened not able understand teacher made them nervous activity. Next, nervousness, making worry they unable answer questions teacher. Finally justification what belief themselves how expect outcome be. findings this add existing theoretical framework motivations languages.
